Musical Madness: Rise Against Concert

rise logoIt feels like you’re floating, above the ground that is. All of your senses are heightened, superman-like. Never before had you ever felt such a deep connection with your ears. Without them, this musical magnetism would be inexistent. You are in front and center with your friends; in the midst of endless elbow bashing and earsplitting sounds of hardcore rock. You meet people who share the same passion for music and are instantly bonded. Your eyes play tennis with all of the band members and their enthusiastic movements with their instruments. You all share an unspoken understanding for the love of the lyrics and beat. It feels like the countdown at new years—all huddled together, yelling at time to go a bit faster, all waiting for the main event.

No less than the second the lights go berserk, does this concealed connection between your friends travel throughout whereabouts unknown. The mosh pits begin to rumble and the floor begins to rebound from the countless thumping and thrashing. This powerful connection is at its peak when you feel your heart poking through your damp chest; but crowd continues to go off like wildfire. Musical madness at its finest.

Gradually the beat starts the fade out. The fire begins to settle; it is now under control, and this is the security crew’s favorite time of the night. You throw your fist in the air one last time and wipe the sweat from your forehead. Next, your heart, along with the rest of your body, signals that it’s time for a long awaited rest. You take a deep breath and hold it in. The oxygen flows throughout your body. You are ready for what’s happening next.

The lights dim but a spotlight stings the man who is responsible for this rock cult. Without warning, he delivers an unforgettable moment of musical bliss that will most definitely be talked about on the ride home. Almost everyone takes this opportunity to snap the perfect photo of the rockstar, for he is sitting down and for once not running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Then, just as fast as it came, the “fire” ignites and the other band members dash out in strong sprint to end the night. At the end of their last note, you hear and feel the pinging in your ears and are reminded of reality.
